Greetings! We are thrilled that you are reading our blog! We have just launched our website along with the blog this week and will continue to share with you some regular updates from the DCCS Women’s Clinic along with any related news that we find relevant, educational or just interesting.
I was listening to some families over a picnic lunch at a local park today as they were reminiscing about playing all day by themselves at a park as children. Today, they were watching their children closely, more concerned than ever about predators. Sadly, their concern as parents is legitimate as we continue to read in the news. Additionally, the U.S. State Department released their 2011 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, describing what is happening with Human Trafficking from a global perspective, and it is still on the rise.
However, we must remember the good news as well. More people than ever are joining the abolitionist movement across the world to end child, labor and sex trafficking. When you have a few minutes, peruse these websites and you will see the great work that passionate, faithful people are pursuing around the world:
Recently we have been getting to know survivors of trafficking who come for care in the DCCS Women’s Clinic. We are appalled at the sinfulness of people when they hurt others, and yet, our only response should be to help in practical ways with what we already have. We don’t have to be radical if we all do something that is realistic. The work we get to do here is simple, practical and realistic. Let us know if you’d like to get involved.
